Printed in the 1830s, The Birds of America is one of the greatest works of natural history art and is the most valuable book ever published. A copy of book was auctioned in 2010 for $10.3 million. Audubon's Bird of America Home Screen

This app allows you to enjoy Audubon’s great masterpiece on your iPhone or iPad. It contains high-resolution scans of the plates that you can zoom and also view in both portrait and landscape modes.

The complete set of The Birds of America is available in this app as 4 volumes. Volume 1 includes plates 1 – 100 and is available for free. You can access Volumes 2 – 4 by making in-app purchases, which also removes the adverts.

Volume 2 includes Plates 101 – 200.

Volume 3 includes Plates 201 – 300.

Volume 4 includes Plates 301 – 435.

 

The app will be available to download from the App Store on 25 April 2015.
